At Kinglake West Primary School students have the opportunity to experience camp life away from home to assist with the development of independence and interpersonal skills.
Our whole school camping program begins with our Preps, starting their school day early where they arrive to have breakfast at school and commence their usual school day at 8:55am.
With our Grade 1’s the students go home at the end of the school day and then come back to have dinner with the Grade 2’s. After the Grade 1’s leave the Grade 2’s sleepover at school, where the students get eat popcorn and watch a movie. This program prepares our students for future camps and allows each child to engage in lots of fun activities outside of the normal school hours.
The Grade 3/4 students attend a 3 day/2 night camp, depending on the year, the camp will be either a city focus or a bush focus.
The Grade 5/6 students attend a 5 day/4 night camp, depending on the year, the camp will be either a beach focus or Canberra,
Each camp experience focuses on adventure and initiative activities with the aim to improve the students’ interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with others.
