The history of the bi-annual musical production at Kinglake West Primary School goes back 40 years, where it was first staged in the Kinglake West Hall in 1982. Prior to the recent renovations, facilities at the hall were limited and a tent was placed outside the door for the children not on stage. The main characters had to wait silently in the old kitchen behind the stage until the big moment arrived!
Things have come a long way since then and obviously the venue has changed several times over the years. For many years the production was held at the Kinglake Community Centre, but then moved to Plenty Ranges Convention Centre in 1996. Then in 2016 we changed venues once again and are pleased to be performing at the Whittlesea College Performing Arts Centre.
Our concerts are a important part of our performing arts program and enables the children to develop skills in dance, drama and music. Our students have worked together for many weeks, dancing, singing, acting and having lots of fun. A production such as these does not magically happen; it requires the help, skills and input of a variety of people in the Kinglake West school community. We are so fortunate to have such an energetic, creative and flexible team at Kinglake West who help made preparations for all our musicals such a positive experience for everyone involved.
